Welcome to the 2025-26 school year!
Whether you're returning for another great year or joining us for the first time, I'm thrilled to welcome you to our Mary Munford community. It's my pleasure to invite you to explore our school website, where you can find useful information and get a glimpse into the vibrant learning environment we've built together.
As someone who has proudly called Munford home for more than 30 years, I can tell you—there's truly no place like it. What makes our school so special isn't just our history, our strong academics, or our beautiful park-like grounds—it's the people. Our dedicated staff, supportive families, and kind, curious students make Munford a place where everyone can thrive.
Each new year brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, and come together. We are committed to fostering a love of learning, encouraging hard work, and promoting kindness in all we do. These core values guide our dedicated team of educators, who work tirelessly to create engaging experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
We believe in the potential of every child and strive to equip our students with the skills and values they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. We also believe that strong partnerships with parents and the wider community are essential. We encourage open communication and collaboration, and we're so lucky to have a team of educators who go above and beyond every day and families who partner with us to support every child.
In addition to our school website, we use PTboard for many of our communications with parents. You can access it directly from our website or by visiting Mary Munford PTBoard.
As always, we'll continue to celebrate our community with family nights, PTA events, and classroom experiences that make Munford more than a school—it's a second home.
Here's to a joyful, successful, and inspiring school year. Thank you for being part of the Mary Munford family—we're so glad you're here.
Sincerely,
Greg Muzik
Principal
I am proud to serve as the Assistant Principal at Munford Elementary School, where I am honored to support such an incredible community of students, families, and educators.
I grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and earned my undergraduate degree from Lynchburg College. I began my career in education as a special education teacher at Chimborazo Elementary School, where I worked with students in grades K-5 in both collaborative and self-contained settings. After several years in the classroom, I transitioned into the role of School-Based Instructional Compliance Coordinator at Chimborazo, leading the special education department and serving as a key member of the school’s leadership team for six years.
Driven by a passion for inclusive education and instructional leadership, I earned my Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. I was thrilled to join the Munford family as Assistant Principal and have loved every moment of working with our amazing students, staff, and families.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our golden doodle, Obi. I also love cooking, baking, and gardening—especially when I can share what I’ve grown or made with others.
