Reading Interventionist
Vanessa Canepa is a reading interventionist at Mary Munford Elementary School in Richmond Public Schools where she manages a team of interventionists and instructs small groups to improve students’ foundational reading skills.
Before reading intervention, Vanessa worked in school leadership in Washington, DC Public Schools focusing on Literacy, Special Education, and Social Emotional Learning, and led her school to double digit gains in reading and math during that time. In the classroom, Vanessa taught fourth and sixth grades in Virginia and California and was nominated for the Fairfax County first year teacher of the year award. She holds a MEd degree in Elementary Education, a post master’s degree certificate in Education Administration and School Leadership from George Washington University, and a B.A. in History from Duke University.
