We aim to keep you updated on all the latest happenings and important information for Mary Munford Elementary. Please use the buttons below to access additional resources:
Mark your calendars for February 20th from 6–8 PM! The SCA is hosting a Masquerade Ball featuring a DJ, games, and a decorated mask contest. Students can purchase a blank mask from the SCA to decorate (which serves as their ticket!) or simply pay the $2 entry fee. Look for more information coming soon!
New York Times–bestselling author James Ponti is visiting Mary Munford Elementary on February 10th as part of his City Spies tour! Students in grades 3–5 will learn about mystery writing and storytelling, and families can order signed, personalized books through bbgb books for school delivery by January 27th.
Order here and check out the full information in this post!
Looks like rain has plans for this weekend… so we’re making new ones!
Grab your backpack blowers, rakes, tarps, regular leaf blowers, and most importantly, your enthusiasm, to help us collect leaves next Saturday, Jan 17th, from Noon–4pm.
Same mission, new day. Let’s team up and make our school look leaf-free and fantastic. Hope to see you there!
Get ready to carry the torch for reading! We are thrilled to invite our students and families to a Winter Olympics-themed Literacy Night on Tuesday, January 20th, from 6:00–7:00 PM.
The school will be transformed into an Olympic village with fun, interactive literacy stations throughout the building. Whether you're "slaloming" through sentences or "skating" through stories, there’s something for every champion. We can't wait to see our students go for the gold!
Huge congratulations to all the brilliant spellers who participated in the Mary Munford Spelling Bee! We are thrilled to announce that Curtis took home first place, with Beckett finishing as our impressive runner-up. Curtis secured the win with the final word "swaggering"—and after a performance that impressive, we think he’s earned the right to do a little swaggering of his own!
We are so proud of all our classroom and school-wide winners; be sure to check out the pictures on this post! We wish Curtis the best of luck as he moves on to represent Mary Munford at the district-wide spelling bee.
Get ready to hit a home run with reading! On December 18th from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, our K-2 students will enjoy a special visit from the Richmond Flying Squirrels' mascots, Nutzy and Nutasha.
During this exciting assembly, students will learn how they can earn a free ticket to a Flying Squirrels game by reading eight books between now and March. Let’s have some "FUNN" with reading!
We are thrilled to announce that the week of December 15th through the 19th will be a Winter Spirit Week! Let's send our students off to break with some community fun. We have organized a lineup of seasonal dress-up days for everyone to participate in.
